Recycled plastics processor and product manufacturer FL Pipe merges into Fluo Group

Oy FL Pipe Ab will strengthen the Fluo Group's expertise in the manufacture of recycled products when it is merged into the Group through an arrangement signed on 31 May 2023. The merger will strengthen Fluo's position as a leading Finnish manufacturer of recycled raw material-based plastic products.

Based in Kaustinen, FL Pipe focuses on the manufacture of plastic products and the processing of recycled raw materials. For example, the company produces plastic cores and pipes mainly for domestic industrial use. Over the years, FL Pipe has developed strong expertise in the use of recycled plastic-based raw materials in particular - for example, its plastic cores are made from 100% recycled raw materials.

Our businesses complement each other well: FL Pipe has decades of experience in manufacturing recycled plastic products, while Fluo has a strong position in the production and use of recycled plastic raw material. Concrete cooperation projects are already underway," says Lars-Erik Furu, Managing Director of FL Pipe.

FL Pipe's founding entrepreneurs Lars-Erik Furu and Anders Ljungberg will continue in their current roles and will become owners of the Fluo Group in connection with the arrangement. The arrangement will not result in any changes to the day-to-day operations of the company, and all FL Pipe employees will continue to work for the group as existing employees at the Kaustinen site.

Plastic waste can be recycled into new products

Two companies in the recycled plastics sector have joined the Fluo Group within a year: FL Pipe and Keskinen Recycling, which specialises in the recycling of industrial plastics. Fluo is therefore extensively involved in the recovery of plastic waste: the group procures plastic waste nationwide and is constantly exploring new potential supply channels. After procurement, the Group companies process the plastic waste into recycled raw material and finally further process the raw material into new products for industrial use.

Group CEO Petri Aaltonen warmly welcomes FL Pipe's professionals to the Fluo Group:

We value the FL Pipe team's deep expertise in the manufacture of recycled plastic products. Together with Keskinen Recycling, we are a leading domestic player in the field of recycled raw material-based plastic products. We will continue to invest heavily in the manufacture of recycled products so that an increasing proportion of the materials we collect are reused.

Fluo has grown to become a major domestic circular economy company

The Fluo Group, based in Kokkola, Finland, has expanded its range of services and grown rapidly in recent years. The group's entities offer a wide range of circular economy services to both businesses and households. In 2023, the combined group will have a turnover of more than €30 million and employ around 120 circular economy professionals.

In recent years, we have developed into a genuinely higher value-added circular economy company. Our know-how allows us to process the materials we collect into recycled raw materials, and plastics even into recycled products. The recovery rate of the materials that pass through us is almost 98%, and our operations have a significant positive environmental carbon handprint," says Petri Aaltonen.

Fluo and FL Pipe will continue their domestic circular economy work together from now on. The aim is to develop new recycled plastic-based product solutions to further increase Finland's recycling rate.

FL Pipe is a recycled plastic processing company and product manufacturer established in 1999. The company supplies its customers with plastic cores and various pipe products made from 100% recycled plastic. FL Pipe's production plant is located in Kaustinen and the company's turnover in 2022 was over EUR 3.8 million.

Ekokuljetus is a domestic circular economy group. The company's wide range of services includes services at the source of materials (e.g. waste management and logging services), material handling and the further processing of waste into new recycling-based products. The group operates through six strong units and will have a turnover in 2023 of more than €30 million.
